Before First Use

After unboxing your Kleintjie play mat, give it a little time to relax and settle into its natural shape. Unroll the mat and lay it flat on a smooth surface. If needed, gently roll the mat in the opposite direction, secure it with the Velcro straps, and allow it to rest in the box for a short period before use.

Each Kleintjie play mat includes two Velcro straps, making it easy to roll up, store, and take your mat wherever playtime goes. Be sure to keep them for easy use whenever you need them.

Gentle Cleaning

To maintain your mat’s pristine condition:

  • Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soapy water or gentle detergent.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, oils, or abrasive materials, which can damage or discolour the top layer.
  • Do not steam clean or vacuum, as this may compromise the mat’s integrity.

Protecting Your Play Mat

Follow these tips to ensure longevity:

  • Clean spills immediately – some substances may cause staining or fading over time. Pens, crayons, markers and paints can leave permanent marks on the play mat, so keep them away.
  • Our play mats are intended for smooth surfaces - avoid sharp objects that could scratch or puncture the top layer.
  • Do not place heavy items on the mat for prolonged periods - this may cause permanent damage.
  • Keep away from heat – do not place near heaters, fireplaces, or hot liquids.
  • Outdoor use – suitable for short periods in a shaded, protected area on smooth ground.
  • Pets – sharp claws and teeth can damage the mat so please supervise when pets are nearby.
  • Dry thoroughly – after cleaning, allow the mat to dry completely. Flatten as suggested to avoid trip hazards.

Discolouration and Minor Changes
Our mats are made without toxic plasticisers or chemical stabilisers. Over time, minor discolouration may occur due to sunlight, improper cleaning, or exposure to high temperatures.

Warranty
Your Kleintjie warranty is valid when care instructions are followed. Improper use or care may void the warranty.
